Kathy has been training and instructing since 1991. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge that was gained by riding,
competing, participating in various clinics, and attending instructor seminars. Kathy has trained with Mary Wanless,
Betsy Steiner, Barbara Berman and Nicko Van Stigt of Holland. She has a desire to learn and enjoys sharing with her students.
Kathy's
experience includes lunging/long lining and round pen work as well as preparing horses to be shown in hand. She has shown
and placed in many recognized dressage shows, schooling shows and championship shows. Kathy has also coached students to win
local championships.
Kathy has attended several Teacher Training clinics given by Mary Wanless and has a knack for
breaking down information to make it understandable for everyone. "I try to stay away from the 'catch phrases'. I make sure
my students have a clear understanding of the feeling of the correct position and the logic behind it, the reason it works.
It is important to ride effectively to get the horse's back up under you and make sure he is responsive to your aids. Only
then can you get the horse on the bit the right way, from back to front."
Kathy's enthusiasm and compassion for both
horse and rider are apparent in every training session. "It has to be fun. We put alot of time and effort into this sport
and we really need to enjoy our time with our horses."
